Dr Laura
Struggling with fear, panic, or traumatic memories from a diving or water-related incident? Does fear of water or drowning hold you back?
Dr. Laura Walton is a Clinical Psychologist specialising in scuba diving and water-related trauma, including drowning incidents and watersports-related phobias. She provides intensive Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) for individuals affected by distressing or traumatic experiences in aquatic environments. Dr. Walton is an EMDR UK Accredited Practitioner with extensive experience in trauma-focused therapy. She has worked with divers, swimmers, and watersports enthusiasts who have experienced anxiety, panic, or post-traumatic stress following incidents such as entrapment, running out of air, or drowning. Her expertise in this area is informed by both clinical practice and her background as a scuba diving instructor, allowing her to understand the psychological and physiological aspects of aquatic trauma. Her approach is grounded in evidence-based interventions, particularly intensive EMDR protocols, which research suggests can facilitate rapid and effective resolution of trauma symptoms. Through her work, Dr. Walton helps individuals regain confidence in the water and restore their ability to engage in diving and watersports safely and with ease.
