Dr Sarah Butler, Counselling Psychologist, Director of the Cronos Wellbeing Solutions and developer of the Mitland Plan, will be presenting her latest research at the 2026 EMDR Association UK Conference, taking place in Bristol in March 2026.
The presentation will share findings from a qualitative research study exploring clients’ lived experiences of intensive EMDR therapy for trauma and post-traumatic stress (PTSD). Using in-depth interviews and interpretative phenomenological analysis, the research places the client voice at the centre of understanding intensive trauma therapy. Key themes include psychological safety, the value of a protected therapeutic space, continuity and connection during treatment, and meaningful changes in sense of self. The findings suggest that intensive EMDR can be experienced as safe, empowering, and capable of supporting profound and lasting change.
The EMDR Association UK Conference 2026 will be delivered in a hybrid format, combining in-person attendance at the Delta Hotel in Bristol with live online participation via a professionally managed digital platform.
Dr Butler’s contribution reflects Cronos’ ongoing commitment to evidence-based trauma therapy, clinical innovation, and research-informed practice in EMDR therapy in the UK. Presenting at this national conference highlights Dr Butler’s role in advancing understanding of intensive EMDR approaches and improving outcomes for individuals affected by trauma.
