The Mitland Plan provides specialist psychological assessment and treatment for adults experiencing anxiety, burnout, trauma, depression, and work-related stress. We work nationally across the UK and support professionals seeking timely, ethical, and well-contained referral pathways for their clients. Click here for the quick referral form.

Who We Accept Referrals From

We welcome referrals from solicitors, GPs (private sector), psychologists, psychiatrists, pain clinicians, allied health professionals, charities (including veteran and blue-light organisations), corporate services, and other professionals. Many referrers are not specialists in psychological treatment, and we aim to make referral decisions straightforward and well supported.

Who Our Services Are For

Our services are best suited to adults whose mental health difficulties are impacting work, family responsibilities, or daily functioning. Common referral reasons include anxiety, stress, burnout, trauma, depression, and phobias—particularly where individuals are signed off work, struggling to maintain their role, or have withdrawn from previously valued activities. Our focus is on assessment, stabilisation, recovery, and supporting a return to meaningful life roles.

Our service is not suitable for individuals in acute crisis or those requiring primary addiction support. We are happy to advise on alternative pathways where appropriate.

What We Offer

We provide psychological assessment, formulation, treatment planning, and tailored evidence-based treatment, with follow-up support as needed. Our clinicians specialise in burnout, anxiety, trauma, and work-related stress and have undertaken additional specialist training.

Treatment is typically short-term and focused. Sessions are delivered online as standard, with in-person appointments available in some areas. We work with adults across the UK.

The Referral Process

Referrals can be made by email, phone, or via our online referral form (link to be added). Referrers may contact us directly.

We request:

  • Referrer name, organisation, email, and phone number

  • Client name, email, and phone number

  • A brief description of the presenting difficulties

Client consent must be obtained before sharing personal information. With consent, we can provide written feedback or reports.

All referrals receive an automatic acknowledgement, and we will make contact within three working days. Assessment and treatment are arranged promptly, subject to client availability.

Working With Referrers

We work collaboratively with referrers, offering responsive, tailored communication aligned with your priorities and role. With consent, we provide an end-of-treatment report outlining assessment, formulation, treatment delivered, and recommendations. We value ethical, client-centred care, clear boundaries, and transparent communication. Where a referral is not the right fit, we will advise promptly and suggest alternatives where possible.
